Lottery Winner Goes Broke

Over the years, I've seen that headline over and over.  It's because most lottery winners lose their fortunes within six years.  It happens all the time.

Why is this? 

I have a friend who has a great job, lives in a million dollar home, does not drive an expensive car or take extravagant vacations – but she’s always broke.  She says she is seeking an abundance of wealth.

I know a couple who makes a quarter of a million dollars and had to declare bankruptcy and move in with one of their parents.  They can attract wealth but have no interest in tips on saving money.  Yet they crave an abundance of success.

And I know a waitress who owns her own home, travels, has taken care of her retirement needs and has financial peace.  Yes, she’s a waitress.  Yes, she understands the Law of Abundance.

What’s going on here?  Most people believe making more money will put an end to their financial woes.

It turns out, more money is not the solution to changing our financial dilemmas.  Instead, it’s our relationship with money that determines our financial lives.  In the examples above, we can see that there is abundance in a quarter of a million dollars - but there is also abundance in one dollar.

Let me explain.

Do you have a healthy relationship with money?  You can easily find this out by asking, “What does my current financial life look like?”   Are my finances in order? Am I empowered by managing my finances?  Or are my finances in a state of chaos?  Am I fearful and immobilized by just thinking of my finances?”

Our money beliefs determine our abundance of wealth.  We need to identify our current beliefs concerning making money.  Are they positive and empowering?  Or are they negative and limiting?

Here are some common limiting beliefs:

"Money is it the root of all evil."

"Money takes the worst out in people."

"You have to struggle to make money."

"Money doesn’t grow on trees."

Here are some empowering beliefs by Women of Wealth: 

"Money provides me with opportunities to contribute fully in this world."

"Money allows me to fulfill my goals and dreams."

"Making money allows me to be of service."

"I am loving and taking care of myself by having my finances in order."

"Money making is a powerful resource for creating good in my life and in this world."

As we redefine our relationship with money, our financial life changes.  The outcome is lasting wealth and financial peace.  Once we understand abundance, wealth creation and career advancement become easier.  Landing a new job promotion and building wealth can lead to complete financial independence creating true harmonic wealth.
